| Les, All these pieces can be run on the bumper. Please arrange. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} 322 c. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} Sft.{Mr Swift} Roy.{Sir Henry Royce} Phantom III - Chassis Costs. --------------------------- We have examined the individual parts on the Phantom III Frames and Fittings and have come across the following parts which are being made in nickel steel, and which we think would be quite suitable in mild steel. F.88984/5. Rear damper brackets. F.87960. Engine suspension bracket. F.87959. " " F.88581/2. Support bracket, rear roll rod. F.86346. Battery crossmember. The material cost of the above pieces amounts to 22/- per chassis, and we should be glad if Roy.{Sir Henry Royce} would find out the cost of them in mild steel. It was not intended on the designs that any of the above pieces should be in nickel steel, and we do not know that they have been changed from mild steel on account of breakages. We think it is well worth while trying out the cheaper material experimentally on the bumper test, and if thought necessary on a 10,000 miles test car, and should be glad if Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} will arrange this.
