REPORT ON CHASSIS 93-NK AFTER 25,071 MILES. ENGINE. Power. This has kept very good throughout tests. Lubrication of cylinders. This has been even. No shortage of oil has occurred. The lubrication has increased during tests, until over-lubrication has fouled plugs. Condition of cylinder walls. These are in a very good condition from surface point of view. The wear of same will be measured when the car returns to Derby. Valves & fittings to E.2217 B. We have had no trouble with these since curing tappet rod squeak. Valves and guides are in good condition as also are rocker arms and bearings. Pistons. We have now a knock with No.5. There is a heavy carbon deposit on all pistons. Examination shewed pistons in a good condition. Periods. We have been very free from these throughout the test, the engine being particularly smooth. Engine gears. These have been quiet and have given no trouble. We have not noticed any rattle in these. Engine case. There is a slight leak of oil from rear bearing. Otherwise the case is free from oil leaks. Water pump & drive. Water pump fitted with white metal packing washer E.70631. These are still in good condition. There is a contd :- | ||
