R.R. 493A (50m) (D.B. 175 25-9-24) J.H.D. EXPERIMENTAL REPORT. Expl. No. REF: Ms3/LG1.4.25 9. Valves. The valves fitted to the engine are Firths silchrome with the latest treatment. We have had a number of failures due to pieces breaking off the heads. 10. Pedals. Larger bearing surfaces have been given to the clutch pedals. 11. Latest type fan fitted. 12. Exhaust cutout. Modified exhaust cutout to scheme 625. This scheme makes use of a tension spring instead of torsion spring. 13. Controls. Modified throttle governor cam to allow greater opening of throttle by hand control and to reduce friction. 14. Magneto coupling. Fitted on a taper to facilitate adjustment. 15. Oil relief valve. Intermediate valve removed so that the rockers are supplied at the same pressure as the wheelcase. This car is fitted with all the parts agreed to in CJ1/M13.3.25 with the exception of the modified controls on the instrument board for the shutter and starter carburetter and also the earthed type ignition tube.
