Detroit, Michigan.

Dear Olley,

I am sending you herewith Q.1712, which is a picture of the 40 m/m barrel for the manufacture of which I have asked you to obtain machines. We are, of course, anxious that when the machines come over they should have the necessary tools and fixtures to go into production at once on the manufacture of these barrels.

There are various machines in this country which will do the outside finishing of the barrel and the chambering. It is particularly the boring, rifling and reamering for which we require equipment, since these are specialised machines.

Yours sincerely,
