File 1280 Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Ed.{J. L. Edwards}6/GH.5.4.40. 5th April 1940. The Searle Radiator Co. Ltd., 53 Bayham Street, Camden Town, LONDON N.W.1. Dear Sirs, FOR THE ATTENTION OF MR. C. SEARLE. --------------------------------- In reply to yours of the 1st instant. and confirming our telephone call, we beg to reply to your list of enquiries as follows:- 1. The filler cap spinning is simply inserted in the top tank with approximately 0.200" projecting above the top plate. No flanging is required before soldering in position. 2. In view of the fact that no cradle is being fitted, this screw may be omitted. It will of course still be necessary to fix the three top brackets and these should be soldered to the top tank. Dimensions may be scaled. 3. Dimensions of the pocket may be scaled. 4. Top and bottom water pipes project straight out from the tanks. They should be 1 1/4" O.D. copper pipe, 1 1/2" long on the bottom, and 1 1/4" long on the top. 5. The steam valve should be rivetted in position, and then run round with solder. 6. The overflow pipe runs down the front of the matrix, and should be left fairly long. It can then be bent on receipt at these works, to suit the particular car to which it is to be fitted. - continued - | ||
