-6- (3) Smith 'Radoes' Heater- This unit has sufficient heat output for warming any of our cars by methods (B) or (C) above, is noisy as standard unit, reasonably quiet with separate motor operation - defroster blower gives slightly more air than the R.R. design. Weight approx. 10 lbs., cost approx. £3.0.0d. SUMMARY. We think that before finalising our recommendations and tests on heating systems, some ruling must be made as to Sales' requirements in this direction, and as to what concessions will be made to facilitate installing a heating system. The alternatives worth considering are:- (1) Separate heater unit recirculating air in car - in case of division cars, two units fitted if necessary. Approx. cost per heater unit - 35/-d.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} (includes connections, rheostat etc.) (2) Separate heater unit as (1) but incorporating defroster or demister blower and provision in scuttle rail for demisting nozzles, ducts etc. Approx. cost per unit - £3.0.0d. - includes connections, rheostats etc. for heater but not cost of ducts. etc. in scuttle rail. (3) Ventilating and heating scheme as fitted up on 28.S.VI car, to heat front and rear compartments. Nett cost per car (allowing for saving of Spinney ventilator) - £2.10.0d. - includes connections, rheostat etc. Cost of extra blower with this scheme for demisting screen - 10/-d.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} With this scheme properly carried out it should be possible to dispense with window ventilators etc. and be entirely free from fumes with the windows closed or nearly so. | ||
