X.4384 - GOSHAWK II STARTER MOTOR X. 3348.

We are sending the first Goshawk II starter motor for test. This machine is fitted with a P.D. (all bakelite) commutator. We have only slightly cleared the bakelite below the diameter of the commutator bars to give it a chance of carbonizing. It does not appear to have suffered in this way during the sweating of the armature coils in the commutator.

We do not intend producing any further machines until we have the latest information from the D.O. as it means some alteration to the armature shafts which makes it that we cannot apply the new Bendix Drive.
