re:- Next batch of Bentley
Standardised Saloon
Bodies, by
Park Ward & Company.
-----------

We believe that the following features have been sufficiently proved to make it worth while our considering their adoption on the next batch of standardised Bentley Saloon Bodies.

(1) EDDYFREE FRONT.

The rather more bold shape of Eddyfree front with the Sunshine Roof edge moved back about an inch, as used by Hooper's, has been very effective in curing wind noises. It is fitted to GZU-24 and we propose cutting you a sample template of this shape tomorrow.

By moving back the front edge of the Sunshine Roof, the rail in the roof at the end of the sunshine roof casing is moved forward a corresponding amount. This is an advantage, as on the present cars there is a danger of the passenger being thrown up on crossing a steep canal bridge when his forehead would contact with the edge of this rail.

(2) SLIDING SEATS.

The present standard sliding seat mechanism has given a lot of trouble through rattles and the seats slide badly. One great disadvantage of this mechanism is that there is no personal stop to which the seat can be returned. One wonders whether we should not return to the original Leveroll sliding mechanism, wherein the seat slides on rods. Messrs. Park Ward & Co., have a tubular sliding seat working on this system which effects a very considerable saving in weight over the present seat and one wonders whether we should not test one of these as soon as possible to discover whether it is any good, and, in the meantime, for this batch of bodies, utilise the Leveroll slide.

(3) WINGS AND STEPS.

In view of Derby's experiments with wings and steps as a
