SPRINGS IN SIDE STEERING TUBE.

I have instructed the Order Office to hand over to you two dozen of the latest type of side steering springs, namely, .300 deflection per spring.

These are the springs which it is proposed to to use on all changeovers.

Messrs Salters inform us that the springs in question, in their opinion, are a sound job and will be able to stand up to any loads imposed upon them. They have arrived at this decision as the result of carrying the test loads further than specified by us. This, with a knowledge of the possibilities of their materials, has led them to tell us definitely that we shall find the springs satisfactory.
