Re balance of front wheels discussed by Mr Gjers. ZEB7/14712. X 401 With reference to Mr Cox's memorandum, this question of the balance of front wheels was very carefully gone into some few months ago, the results of which investigation is set out in a letter to Mr Gjers which I attach. The scheme adopted by Mr Gjers is not good inasmuch that if the bolts are disposed in this way, then those adjacent to the valve will be too far apart to be consistent with safety. The difficulty of the balance of bolts and valves has been overcome by fitting balance weights in the felloe and the only point remaining to be dealt with is the lap joint of the inner tube and the irregularities of the tube and cover, of which the lap joint is by far the most important. I have not taken the matter up This sheet must be filed with the correspondence to which it refers.
