Re Side Levers. 12 ED.{J. L. Edwards}

I would like to have your decision in regard to the question which has again arisen to do with the side lever mechanism. Messrs. Parkers have again sent in a requirement for side levers which are 1 1/2" further out from the centre line of the car than our present "Set out" Austrian type.

"he overhang of our present "Set out" levers is also more than we really like, but it represents the best that we can do when it is necessary to fit the change gear and side levers at the outside of the body. Another 1 1/2" added to this dimension outwards, is in my opinion decidedly a disadvantage. I have written to Sales pointing this out, and they replied to the effect, " That if Messrs.Parkers are prepared to pay for the alteration we must supply the levers".

I have therefore, raised the point with them, that efficiency of design is of greater importance, and said that I would refer the matter to you for your decision.
