Dear Sirs,

We are in receipt of your letter dated 10th. July, and we have inspected the bearings in question.

You will realize the difficulty in diagnosing cause and effect in cases like this, where we have little knowledge of the working parts concerned.

From the condition of the bearings, we would suspect that the engine had been run with water in the oil, following say a blown gasket, but as we have said it is almost impossible to diagnose the real trouble on so little evidence.

We are therefore passing the bearings to Mr. Blackith of Wellworthy, with a copy of this letter, whose job it is to follow up a job like this.

Yours faithfully,
FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LTD.
