Rubber Mounted fan blades.

Herewith print of PL.143 shewing how we have progressed with your ideas, I feel it has become complicated owing to our striving to overcome certain features which we consider must be catered for. They are -

(1) It is desirable that the five blades rotate the same amount.

(2) That the rubber mounting should only be called upon to work in the twisting plane.

(3) To avoid as far as possible the cantilever load on the rubber.

At the moment I cannot spare any more time worrying the design. It would be profitable if you could give the job further progressive thought when I shall be pleased to continue the work.

Do you know, if when the pitch of the blades is decreased the noise is so much reduced that we could tolerate the five blades being equally spaced, this would simplify the design quite a deal.

I discovered the other day a fan SCD.866 which has thin spring steel blades, was this ever tried, it looks simple and has possibilities.
