Radio Screened Plugs

For the attention of Mr. West.

Gentlemen,

I am directed to refer further to this Department's letters of the 16th October and 1st November under reference 186753/22, and to enquire whether you consider the two types of sparkling plug forwarded on the 1st November suitable for test.

It is pointed out that the 14 m.m. plug X.506, being equivalent to A.14/1, may not be considered to have a sufficiently high heat factor for the Merlin engine under test bench conditions, though it might be suitable for flight conditions. A screened plug equivalent to the higher heat factor plug, X.495/1, at present being type tested on the Merlin engine, can be supplied if considered more desirable.

I am, Gentlemen,
Your obedient Servant,

E.L. Mayall Eubage

for Assistant Director/R.D.E.
for Director of Technical Development.

DERBY.
