We will investigate these points in due course, but as you say you have a similar scheme working very well on 29.G.VI. we are not alarmed, as the general features of the arrangement seem to be what are required.

Contrary to your expectations, the member has reduced the reactions on the gear lever.

Your memo Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Wym.{G. Harold Whyman - Experimental Manager}8/JH.9.3.38 re ball pin tapers, indicates that I have not made myself sufficiently explicit in my memo Chateauroux 2/.5.3.38. The trouble we reported was not knocks due to bad fitting, but difficulty of fitting due to the design providing no location to prevent the ball pin turning while tightening or undoing the nut, which for various reasons may be tight on its thread. Bull knows all about this particular trouble.

The accelerator pedal thumping is due to direct metallic contact between one's foot and the frame via the solid on stop when on full throttle, not to geometry errors. The rubber stop is not to camoflage a fault but to insulate the foot from the frame in the same way that the rest of you is insulated by the rubber body mountings, with the exception of the hands which are submitted to steering column shake.

The locating flats and washers not being required for lubrication timing were deleted by common consent. HPS{Horace Percy Smith - Experimental Factory Mgr}/RH{R. Hollingworth} agreeing that no difficulty was experienced in fitting up and taking down, and an economy effected by removing pieces and machining.
If this is not now agreed to, we can reintroduce flats (and washers if necessary), but do not want to do so. SH

Suggest geometry cannot be the cause, since engine end of linkage is practically un-loaded at full throttle.
Suggest (1) Spare wheel carrier (2) Dashboard transverse movement (3) frame weaving.
