To RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} X32-6 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls}8/KW.2).9.36. Phantom III Gearbox. Confirming our conversation with you this morning that customers are already having trouble with second and third speeds coming out of mesh, we hope you will be able to build up No. 4HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} gearbox as soon as possible for a dynamometer test, containing the following pieces :- (1) Third speed coupling to N.Sch.4896. (2) Second speed coupling to N.Sch.4824, but having much more generous radii in the corners. At the moment the two inner rings are made of S/ZNCR but the outer piece of S/ZNX. It might be worth making the latter in a better material. (3) Cadillac gears, which are already in the box. (4) New ball bearings throughout. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls} | ||
