(Chrysler scheme) which lowers the critical speed of the crank by 150 or 200 revs. compared with what it will be with the standard crankshaft which is to have balance weights c/s scheme, which is the standard arrangement on Peregrine, 25HP., and Phantom. We think that would be sufficient with the car as it is, but if we reduce the windage, mudguards, etc. to allow it to go faster we may then require an extra tooth in the axle.

As we have pointed out, the car which is going to France is having the higher axle ratio. The alteration to the intermediate gear ratios is not in hand at the moment. We are looking upon this as an experiment and the cars are being instructed with the standard 25HP. boxes on the assumption that if we do find the modified gears an improvement we can use any which have been prepared up on the standard 25HP. cars.

As regards the clutch, we are confident that the Bensport clutch should be satisfactory. Any suggestion of an alternative clutch means that we should not be able to keep our promise of the care.

The wheels on the Bensport car are being changed and when it goes to France it will have the Rudge Whitworth wheels with improved spoking.

We must take a firm stand against any increase in weight or body size on the Bensport. We think there will undoubtedly be a demand for two inches more room here, and two inches more room there, and before we know where we are we shall have the same over-all weight and size as the 20/25HP. To think before we give anything at all away on outside dimensions and weight we should make sure that we are making the best advantage of the present dimension.
