S/W. {Sales / Derby Works} To Hs. {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} X4426 PN {Mr Northey} 3/EH.29.9.26. 8-EX. You will have noticed that the near-side rear shock absorber (Hartford) on this car has broken away from its top anchorage. It would be interesting to know whether you discovered any flaw on the fracture, or anything abnormal to account for this breakage. I believe that it occurred at an extremely deceptive level crossing in France which was taken at some speed, with subsequent discomfort. However, in any case the buffers took most of the strain, so that I do not see why the shock absorber should have complained so much about it. S.W.D PN. {Mr Northey} C.N. 30. Sep 1926 | ||
