In reply to your note R4/P151213, re
reversal test on Pivot P.3783, I am not sure
whether it is your wish that Pivots F.3697/8
should be all scrapped. We were not proposing
here to scrap them as they are evidently very
much superior to the pivots which broke, though
of course the design is not ideal.

Would you please confirm if it is
your wish that all these now on cars should be
changed, as the number involved is quite consid-
erable. I am taking this note to be an author-
isation to me to change the standard from F.3697/8
to F.3783/4, no more of the former type to be
made even with a smaller hole. I have increas-
ed{J. L. Edwards} the radius at the root of the stub to your
instructions. These pivots will, of course,
come out of the old forgings F.3697/8.
