RE WATER PUMPS
X.3567
X.2020

As regards the Water Pumps for Eagles on airships, I understand that these have to be made of a larger pattern so as to give equal circulation to the cylinders, and make extra allowance for the circulation through the water cooled exhaust pipes. This will enable us to put in an improved form of pump having the double packing with lubrication between, schemed some little time ago. ( The drawing of a pump with such a gland was sent to Derby just twelve months ago.)

We think it would be better to have a large screw lubricator and the lubrication should be vaseline or mineral grease which will not mix with water. This system of lubrication should be patented and I am sending to Mr. Albert Claremont, a letter to see whether it is possible.

R.{Sir Henry Royce}
