W.A. Robotham, Esq.,
Rolls-Royce Ltd.,
DERBY.

Dear Mr. Robotham:

We have a little difficulty about which I would like to consult you. 6 x 33.

We make 6.00" for 21"rim Fort Silent Tyres for you on which there is a specified maximum out-of-balance of 57 inch ounces. We have considerable trouble in making tyres to this limit and they all have to be selected after production. Rejections under this out-of-balance limit are high and the tyres are accumulating more rapidly than we can sell them.

At the moment we have a surplus of about 200 tyres which are over the 57 inch ounce limit, and we wonder whether it is possible for you to relax this limit somewhat. If you could give us an 87 inch ounce limit, this would enable us to deal with the major portion of our production, but i do not know whether the balancing arrangements you adopt for wheels would permit you to go as far as this.

I am, therefore, arranging to send, addressed for your personal attention, three covers which show the maximum out-of-balance that we should ask for, in the hope that you may put them up for investigation and let me know in due course whether we could have the benefit of your assistance in relaxing the present standard.

If it should be that 87 inch ounces is too great, whatever advance you could give us on 57 inch ounces would be very much appreciated.

Yours faithfully,

W.Bond
Development Manager.
