+4050. Expl. Dept. HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} 2/MJ. Dec.12th.1929. The Dunlop Rubber Co. Ltd., Fort Dunlop, Erdington, BIRMINGHAM. Dear Sirs, For the attention of MR. Bond. With reference to your letter of the 11th.inst. I am rather at a loss to locate the 6" tyres for 21" rims to which you refer in this letter. They do not appear to be a tyre that we are fitting as standard on any of our present production cars. If the dimension is correct, I can only think that it refers to the tyre that used to be called 6" x 33" which was used on the 20 HP. car two years ago. Will you please let me know whether this is the tyre in question because if so, it is a high pressure tyre and therefore out of balance will not be of such vital importance as on the low pressure tyre. We shall be glad to hear how you are progressing with the improved Silent Tread pattern for the cars, as we have had a number of complaints that the Silent Tread is not safe. These have doubtless been brought about by the exceptionally wet conditions which have recently prevailed. Yours faithfully, For Rolls-Royce Ltd. | ||
