Phantom III. Floor Boards for D.W.S.Jack Pump.
-------------------------------------------------
We send herewith LeC 5005 showing a trap door in the horizontal chassis floor board to give access to the D.W.S. Jack pump.
The trap door is on the near side of the car and we suggest that any existing pressings for the floor boards may be used by cutting out the necessary holes and pressing a recess.
The trap door is made to be held open and closed by means of a spring similar to that used on the bonnet shutters. Although we have suggested a diameter of wire and an initial free position, we feel that since this spring is so indeterminate these particulars will have to be determined by experiment.
The anchorage for the trap door is riveted to the floor board prior to the rubber covering being fitted, and the same remark applies to the fixing of the hinged arm to the flap itself.
A small flush fitting ring is provided for lifting the trap door, and this has been taken from Messrs. Gadson's catalogue, although we have no doubt that Messrs. Stedall could also supply it.
This drawing also shows the marking on the pump valves and a plate for attaching to the trap door to indicate how the pump is operated.
