For the attention of Mr.C.H.Smith.

Dear Sirs,

We are thinking of using two of your deep groove ball journal bearings No.S.110 and 115 to support a water pump shaft and would be glad of the following information.

(1) The journal loading of the bearing will obviously be very slight and the rotational speed will be approx. 6000 R.P.M. at maximum revs. - is there any objection to subjecting the No.115 journal to an end thrust of 15 - 20 lbs.?

(2) We believe that your price to us of these bearings is in the neighbourhood of 1/2 each - do you market a similar journal bearing but in non-corrodible steel or some water resisting alloy such as Phosphor Bronze, gun metal etc, - if so is the above mentioned end thrust still permissible and how is the above price affected. ?

An early reply will be appreciated,

Yours faithfully,

FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LTD.
