X.2369. RE PISTON FOR "AFTER)THE-WAR" CHASSIS.

We attach herewith standardisation sheet for the above, with signatories remarks.

The sheet was sent out in view of the memo received from Mr. Royce saying that the "after the war" chassis was to be made like 7 CA.

You will notice that nobody has signed the sheet in view of the fact that pistons have always been a troublesome question on the chassis, even when we have been using cast iron as the material for them, and in the case of aluminium, the difficulties are much increased.

We are therefore not ordering up material for these pistons until the full set of tests have been run.
