1135 To Br.{T. E. Bellringer - Repair Manager} from Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Std. c. Hd.{Mr Hayward/Mr Huddy} With reference to your telephone conversation of today with Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} concerning a high speed five blade fan and drive for a customer's car which is going to U.S.A. We have today despatched to you a fan off an experimental car, complete with driving pulley (1/1 ratio) and belt. This fan has been packed with grease and is ready for fitting - the belt sent with it is an experimental Fero-Grip belt made by Messrs Ferodo Ltd., which on test has proved to be far superior to any previous blet we have tested. This belt is practically inextensible so that it must be fitted by pulling it in position on the pulleys before the fan is fitted into its adjusting slot and then levering same up into position. On no account must the belt be forced over the rims of the pulleys. With this belt, owing to lack of stretch and lack of consequent 'bellying' out at speed, no alteration to the standard starting handle support bracket bearing is necessary. For record purposes the driving pulley and fan pulley have been made to EXS.351 and EXS.352 respectively. If further high speed fans are required, it will be necessary for Hd.{Mr Hayward/Mr Huddy} to order same as we have no other spare ones. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Std. | ||
