1128 By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} c. Wd.{Mr Wood/Mr Whitehead} Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}11/R.11.8.39. MARINE - 8-CYL. POWER PLANT. With reference to Wd{Mr Wood/Mr Whitehead}14/RS.{Sir Henry Royce's Secretary}10.8.39., we have handed drawings to Wd.{Mr Wood/Mr Whitehead} indicating the clutch housing on which the gearbox must be fitted. We under-stand that the design will be put in hand forthwith. We have asked Wd.{Mr Wood/Mr Whitehead} to supply an 800 watt dynamo, or drawing thereof, in order that we may install it. We have also asked Wd.{Mr Wood/Mr Whitehead} for a sample of the usual type of Bilge pump employed. We would be glad if Wd.{Mr Wood/Mr Whitehead} would state whether the Bilge pump is fitted to the lowest possible point in the engine, or whether the amount of suction lift is immaterial. Will Wd.{Mr Wood/Mr Whitehead} please inform us whether clock-wise engine rotation will be satisfactory. We feel that the right way to tackle this job is to go ahead with the necessary auxiliaries and get them installed on the unit, and submit it for trials on the test bed before re-opening the matter with the Administration. The Workshop trials appear to us to be of no particular severity. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} | ||
