Dear Selman,

Thank you for your letter of the 10th. May.

Presumably, the gun of which you speak, of which the trunnion is 2'3" above the deck has not a power driven mounting. Obviously, the fully automatic gun and the power driven mounting are two separate projects and can be divided one from the other.

If you will send us an installation drawing showing the maximum height from the trunnion to the deck which you can tolerate, we can see if there is any possibility of getting a power driven mounting in the space allocated.

With long recoils, such as our gun has, the trunnion height is somewhat dictated by the angle of elevation at which it is desired to fire. Sixty degrees of elevation can, however, be obtained by a trunnion height of less than 4'6".
