GSS/PG. 321/1. 10th May 1941. W.A.Robotham Esq., Messrs Rolls Royce Limited, Derby. Dear Sir, Brigadier General Reville Smith sent the lorry with your gun for our inspection on Thursday last. I was very pleased with the demonstration they gave us and in my opinion it is just the sort of gun we need for our boats. At the present time we are fitting a 40 mm. gun forward of the wheelhouse on some boats we are constructing and in this case your gun would be at a disadvantage since the height of the trunion from the deck would mean than the gun would obscure vision from the bridge. The gun we are fitting is of an old type and I was told it was the only one which could be obtained. It certainly has the advantage that its trunion is only 2'3" above the deck. Thanking you for your kind assistance. Yours faithfully, p.p. THE BRITISH POWER BOAT CO. LTD. G.S.Selman. Naval Architect. | ||
