-3- holes be undrilled they should be left out. 6. Half of the boxes should be fitted with a lay-shaft on Timken Bearings as designed. The other half of the boxes should have the same bearing with the hole for the shaft increased from 1.000 ins. to 1.062 ins. in diameter and the bore of the layshaft cluster increased by .06 ins. This should not be done on the shaft with 7 D.P. teeth for the 1st. speed. The amount the shaft is reduced to allow of the grinding for the 1.062 dia. should be reduced to 10 thous. With 8 D.P. on the 1st. speed wheel it may be possible to slightly increase the outside shaft diameter of the layshaft cluster.
