Drawn by Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/HH. See Ev{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}/Tln.1/JH. 26.10.40. PL164. At a discussion between Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/PJH. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/HH. and Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} held at Park Leys on Feb. 21st./41 the following further decisions were taken. 1. Since no gearbox casting exists, the pattern be made with all necessary bosses to enable the casting to be drilled to produce either R.H. or L.H. side change, or L.H. column control. 2. As it appears that 7 sets of parts have been produced for gears of 7 D.P. for the 1st. speed at least one box should be built up with these gears for the sake of experience. The rest should have gears of 8 D.P. with one half the amount of correction applied to the standard gears of 9 D.P. which failed. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/HH. will draw out the 9 D.P. uncorrected gears of 30.G.VII. and the 9 D.P. corrected production gears which failed to a large scale for our inspection prior to the final degree of correction being decided upon. The dog teeth will be lengthened in all cases by .100 ins. 3. Strengthened 2nd. speed dogs must be on all boxes see PL.373. 4. Strengthened 3rd. speed dogs are essential, see PD.495 These should be already incorporated in the box as instructed. 5. If the holes for the 2nd. speed anti-rattle device have been drilled these shafts may be used, but the springs and balls should not be fitted. Should the | ||
