SERVO GEARS. 40/50 & 20 HP.

We have an enormous amount of trouble owing to the phosphor bronze worm wheel being porous. I estimate 50% of the turned parts are scrapped prior to cutting the teeth, simply due to porosity.

I am of the opinion that Duralumin will make a good worm wheel. I have evidence that rather goes to prove this, and therefore I suggest that the Experimental Dept. make a number of worm wheels in Duralumin. The necessary bar, heat-treated can be obtained from The Duralumin Company.
