PETROL PUMP COMPLAINTS ON BENTLEY CHASSIS
AT KINGSBURY DEPOT.

The attached table gives an analysis of the S.U. petrol pump complaints for the 12 months ending February 1st.

The total number of complaints and pumps changed on Company's policy is 471.

Of these 60% occurs in the old type pumps 38% in those with the G.5. modification and 2% in the latest G.5.S.C. pump which however have only been reported on during the last 6 months, and have been produced for the last 8 months.

In the attached table failure means failure of one or both units and not necessarily a complete failure.

The G.5.S.C. pumps in the column ex stock refer to pumps rejected on the Kingsbury rig, when taken from stock and are not included in the final total. The letter G.5.S.C. refer to pumps which have been centralised and fitted with the oil silk layer between the diaphragm material.

All pumps of this type which fail are now sent to me for examination and are reported on. See report Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/JBD.{John B. Dixon - Fuel Systems}8/JH. 24.1.38.

The number of old type pumps on the road is being steadily reduced as shown by the number of failures per month from this type which has been reduced from 30 at the beginning of the year to 11 at the end. The complaints of failure in this type amount to 48% of the total.

G.5.

The G.5. we were forced to adopt shows a reduction in the complaints of failure to 2% but porosity of the diaphragm accounts for 4% and leakage at the flange 10%.
