Gearbox undershield.
This we consider satisfactory in protecting gearbox, except in very severe wet weather, when water and dirt are forced up between engine case and undershield. A felt pad fitted round this joint would be considerably beneficial in excluding the water and dirt under these conditions.

Radiator to L.O.P. E.53380.
Radiator is slightly damaged owing to bonnet chattering lengthways, which has caused slight indentations where bonnet comes into contact with the radiator. Support to bonnet on top of radiator has broken off. Supporting rod to top of radiator broke at dashboard end.

Radiator shutters & controls to L.O.P. E.53990.
These have worked satisfactorily and are free from rattles.

Dashboard & brackets. "D" type, F.52857, otherwise to L.O.P. F.53341.
Slight indentations have occurred where bonnet has chattered against dashboard. Brackets and bolts have remained tight.

Steering column & box.
New stiffener support tube to Drgs. F.53250/1/2/3/4. otherwise to L.O.P. 50941.
Steering column support on dash has remained O.K. Steering box supported on frame and engine - brackets O.K. Bolts have remained tight. There is a slight amount of slack developed in pendulum rocker arm between levers and nut.

Steering.
Steering on rough roads at moderate and high speeds - shocks have at times been severe. They depend upon the condition of the road. On smooth roads, at moderate and high speeds, car is inclined to wander. At low speeds no wobbles have developed. We consider that the steering is normal.

Front axle & brake mechanism.
E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} Sch. 2014/19. Gear has taken place in bearings of operating shaft. The brake levers have worked satisfactorily. Axle pivots G.52358/5 - these have worn. Pivot pin, bush and friction washer to Drgs. EX.663/4/5. - bushes have worn very badly, causing excessive shake in pivot pin. The O.S. has worn considerably more than the N.S. The O.S., when takendown for examination, was well lubricated. Brake drums and shoes are in good condition. Considerable amount of fine sand has been washed into the inside of the drums. This is probably due to the exceptionally heavy rains experienced whilst the car has been out on test, and is probably the cause of the excessive wear of the pivot bushes.
