SUBJECT.
REMARKS.

(11) RUBBER CONDUIT.
Final drawings for rubber wiring conduit have still not been received by Expl. production dept.

(12) IGNITION COIL.
Six models of Delco type coil have been produced by BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer}, but no D.O. drawings are available. This matter was discussed at chassis conference 10.5.38 and memo. sent by BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} stating Delco coils were not to be ordered for 1st. 100 Wraiths.

(13) CHASSIS STARTER SWITCH CARBON CONTACTS.
It is stated on agenda that D.O. scheme is fundamentally same as Expl. model which was successfully tested for a period equivalent to 4 years work.
D.O. scheme varied from original model in several important features, these variations being considered responsible for failure of D.O. scheme which actually occurred.
Points where D.O. scheme differed from Expl. model are as follows:-
(1) Width of contacts doubled, and contact arm made in heavy SWG. material which prevents desirable wiping effect present on contact surfaces of Expl. model.
(2) Coil end cap made in steel instead of brass. This means that the two retaining tabs exert a reverse pull on the contact arm, and reduce the impact of the points when closing.
(3) Contact arm mounting on vertical bracket is poor on D.O. scheme, because insufficient area is provided along which magnetic flux may pass from bracket to arm. efficiency of magnet is thus reduced. These points are shewn on sketch.
