SUBJECT.
REMARKS.

(7) BATTERY BOX.
First six Expl. Battery Boxes were instructed to suit the long type battery, but drawings were later altered to suit short type battery.
Instructions were given by BY/NS.{Norman Scott} that first six Expl.Prodn. cars were to be fitted with four short and two long type batteries. Drawings of long type battery box had been altered by this date, however, and no drawings were in existence from which to produce them.

(8) REAR SHACKLE PIN. (Additional Rubber Sealing Washer.)
It is claimed on By's agenda that this was dealt with under alteration 2693/F.SS.{S. Smith}17.3.38. Neither drawings nor LOP. have yet been received by Expl. Prod. however.

(9) OIL GAUGE PIPE.
Drawing DW.194 not yet received by Expl. Prod., although it is stated to have been issued to Expl. under memo. BY/NS.{Norman Scott}6/14.4.38.

(10) BONNET SIDE REST PLATE.
Model was produced by Expl. incorporating mud excluder, which gave same result as EW.1758/61: without necessitating new dies, and was agreed to by BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} on 30.3.38.
Instructions from D.O. were not cleared until 9.4.38 however and the mud excluder has now been abandoned completely. Much work could have been avoided by an early decision that mud excluder was unnecessary.
