RR 228 (150 BKS.) (DB {Donald Bastow - Suspensions} 461-8-12-24) NP 306975 X6042 ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. INSTRUCTIONS. To: EFE Date: 1 Nov 1930 Order No. AD 69 Customer's No. X 6042 Cut-out Spring in Phosphor-Bronze (To D72854) We have received half a dozen of the above springs. They are of much lower rating than the standard but of greater free length. We find that as received the set-up is too high when assembled but with one turn removed, satisfactory function is obtained. One such modified spring is fitted to the income of the chassis system running in the Laboratory. The rating of the spring is still lower than the standard but we think this may be an advantage as at present cutouts are apt to be isochronous which tends to allow dithering of the armature under some conditions. We suggest that the remaining five springs be similarly modified and fitted to cutouts on 12 GIV, 18 GIV, 20 Ex, 23 Ex, 24 Ex. Signed: H.H. This Sheet must be filed on completion of the work. | ||
