To ROY.{Sir Henry Royce} from Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rn.{Mr Robinson}

Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}3/LG23.1.29.

With reference to ROY{Sir Henry Royce}/MS/P26.1.29. The position now should be quite clear. In the first place we have had three tank units modified because we have altered the position of the gauge in the tank, and in consequence the tank units have now to be deeper.

With reference to the 20 HP. units, 175.P. Air Line and 175.P. Tank Unit. P. units are only required for the air line and tank, they can be utilised with the existing dashboard units. Until we have proved that the P. type units are satisfactory, we shall not order special dashboard units.

It should be borne in mind when considering these gauges that a number of tank designs are often built before finality is reached and we are bound to get experimental gauges to suit each tank as it is made. Therefore the situation is bound to be very confusing to anybody who is not au fait with the whole job.

With reference to your query re. the 3rd. para. of our Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}2/TL6.1.29. The 1st. para. of the note we sent you points out that this gauge has now been credited by Messrs. H.M.Hobson. We return the note herewith again.

With reference to the three gauges which we have for disposal. These gauges are suitable for the present std. carson production. We will arrange for a copy of our correspondence to be sent to you in future.

Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rn.{Mr Robinson}
