HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} 78880 BJ18/DN4.9.25. TO BY c. to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} ET & OF. FROM BJ OVER-OILING. With reference to BY16/H.1.9.25, we have just heard that this week we have arranged for over-oiling to be cured in two more cases, viz:- Mr. W. Gibbs of Penarth -- 4-MC Mr. Topham of Folkestone -- 95-MO. We thought perhaps in view of EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}'s circular memorandum No. 454 of the 24th July concerning engine over-oiling that the chassis numbers of those likely to give trouble were actually known. Under the circumstances mentioned in your memorandum under reply, we realise that we cannot make sure yet which engines are likely to give trouble or whether the suggested cures will be permanently effective.
