re. 20-HP Engine Overheating. Y4240/Y4241

With reference to your PN{Mr Northey}6/DN23.7.23, your experience rather confirms our own experience in this respect, and the matter was recently brought to the attention of Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} who will no doubt be able to reply to you further as to what action, if any, is being taken in regard to this matter.

In the meantime we shall be glad if you can give us the following information:-

1. Do you think this fault is peculiar to this car, and could you confirm this by being able to obtain the same or different results with another similar car?

2. If this car is faulty in this respect, I take it that having found this fault, the fan and water circulation were examined to make sure they were working satisfactorily, also that the louvres [shutters crossed out] were fully open and remained open when the car was being driven under these conditions.

3. If it is found to be a general weakness with this type of car, could the test be repeated by running with the bonnet taken off entirely?

4. What was the normal air temperature when this test was made?
