REAR AXLES FITTED TO 7-GOSHAWK-11 & LONDON DEMONSTRATION CAR(LANDAULET).

Axle fitted to 7-Goshawk-11 - Derby to London
Fairly good at low speeds - uneven over 25 m.p.h. Axle cannot be called good but the uneven note is not worrying when riding in the car.

Axle on London Demonstr: Car
Poor all round - forward and reverse. The worst period is at 28/30 m.p.h. when the engine is not quite pulling the car, and the momentum of the car not quite turning the engine i.e., the floating position. The gear note was very noticeable on this car and was continually drumming on the ears of any passenger.

The above two axles were interchanged by Cricklewood on the nights 15/16.12.22. The result being that the demonstration car was considerably improved. Messrs. Sidgreave and Spinney stated that in their opinion the car was improved 75% and was quite good enough to put into commission again as a demonstration car. The unevenness was noticeable but did not worry the cars as the previous axle did.

Axle on 7-Goshawk-11 - London to Derby.
(Demonstration axle)
Poor all round, worst preiod being at 28/30 m.p.h. on float. This axle is perhaps not so noticeably bad on 7-Goshawk-11 as it was on the London car, as with the latter being a landaulet practically all mechanical noise except axle noise is shut off from a passenger riding in the back.
