X.3730. X.4256. May we suggest that we have the new green limousine demonstration car at the Works at the earliest possible moment? We have been working continuously on the axle problem and we have studied every little part that was likely to give trouble, and perfected in every way we know the workmanship and methods in connection with the axle. Everybody at the Works has been enthusiastic to produce something better. We have succeeded to such an extent that I can almost guarantee that we are going to produce Goshawk back axles as quiet as the 40/50. We have now an axle which is really very good, confirmed this morning by Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Maddocks and myself on an experimental covered body. We are busy producing more such axles and are hopeful of success. We would like to put this very good axle in the green limousine at Derby.
