SPECIFICATION OF COACHWORK. NEW PHANTOMCodename for PHANTOM I II. FOR MR. ROYCE. CHASSIS. Standard Short Chassis Phantom 2. with special angle of column. Untarnishable finish to the external fittings and nickel finish to the fittings inside the body. Standard radiator, bonnet and dash. 20ins. rims and 7ins. tyres. Clearances see N.Sch.3087. Two spare wheels to be carried at the rear on a type 3 carrier. No side wheel carrier. BODY. Four-door, close coupled saloon to our drawing N.Sch.3088. TRUNK. The trunk is to be made part of the body although it will have a separate appearance. Some tools to be carried in the lid.{A. J. Lidsey} The cases to be got at by a hinged rear squab. Door at back of trunk to be provided to permit of access to the petrolfilter. This is got at by removing the spare wheels, and may be held in by means of screws. BODY CONSTRUCTION. The body to be framed lightly in best English Ash, and constructed on the lines used for 18 EX. The ironing to be carried out by sheet metal gussets. The body to be constructed on the Special Experimental Body Subframe shewn on N.Sch. 3087. The panels must be carried right round the door shuts and there must be no stuck on mouldings. DOORS. The doors must be as thin as possible, and no dovetails may be use The glass of the front door must fall remaining in contact with the front pillar, the rear glasses fall as far as possible. The doors are hung on the centre pillar. The glasses must be vertical or slightly leaning inwards. In the front view the screen pillars must not appear to lean outwards. Glass 3/16 Triplex.Combined interior handles and door pulls, design to be approved. Window lift handles to be placed as drawn on N.Sch.3088. PRIVATE LOCKS. All private locks to be operated by the same key ( to be in triplicate) HEAD. Head and upper quarters to be lightly framed with the minimum of panelling: to be covered with enamelled leather and of a colour to be decided later. Back light to be of the size drawn, and glazed with Triplex, and provided with a blind with control from the driving seat. WINDSCREEN. Single piece and hinged at the top, and carrying two wipers at the base. Fasteners to be positive in action. Glass to be 1/4 TRIPLEX. The front pillars to be made as small in section as possible. SCUTTLE VENTILATION. Aventilator to be fitted at each side of the scuttle of the same size as the bonnet shutter and flush fitting. SUNSHINE ROOF. Hooper Patent Sunshine Roof to be fitted as drawn on N.Sch.3088. The depth at the screen to be made an absolute minimum. | ||
