Dear Sirs,

RE NEW CAR FOR MR. ROYCE.

Mr. Royce has been very pleased with the body which you built for him on 16EX, which he has used for two seasons in France. The body has held up well and is free from serious rattles although it will have covered over 40,000 miles by now.
We are sending you herewith the designs of a body for a new car for his use, which must be completed for use during his Summer holiday, which commences during the latter part of July.
It may be possible for us to let you have the chassis, but should this not be so, we shall mount the body in the usual way in Derby. We hope however that this will not be necessary.
You will notice we have introduced a novel type of waist moulding. Below the waist moulding proper there is a small bead in this case of chromium plated metal to form the continuation of the bonnet hinge. The scuttle is not one with a sharp edge but it starts at the dash with a radius to match the bonnet hinge and grows to about a three inch radius at the screen.
We hope to let you have the subframe soon, but in the meantime we would be glad if you could go ahead with the P.S.D. In connection with this letter we would suggest that it should show more detail than it is your normal custom so that the writer will be in a position approve of the work going ahead without delay as soon as the drawing is ready for him to view.
We are anxious to have a sunshine roof in this car, and Mr Royce has taken a particular liking to the design as fitted by Messrs Hooper & Co. We shall be glad to hear that you will be able to fit such a roof to meet his request.
Would you please inform the writer when the P.S.D. is ready for viewing.
Sales will communicate with you re the order and price.

Yours faithfully,

FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LTD.
