-2- type of Miller cover on R.R. cars for 10,000 miles minimum service, we would be able to state definitely that the maximum cost for tyres to the private user for running the R.R. car will be 1.3332 pence per mile, no matter what happens. If we confined this Guarantee to users of R.R. cars, it would emphasise the economy of R.R. cars so far as tyres are concerned, which, I venture to suggest, would be to the advantage of the R.R. Company. The only other Tyre Company that is offering a definite mileage guarantee with their tyres when used on R.R. Cars is Rapson and his price is fourpence per mile per car, and, further, the Rapson Company require the user to pay for every extra mile run over 10,000 The Rapson Company alternatively offer a 5,000 miles Guarantee at the same cost per mile. Therefore, even if we decided not to in-crease our present Guarantee of 5,000 miles against all damage, the maximum cost per mile for a R.R. car using 33 x 5 S/S Miller Cord tyres would only be 2.6664 pence per mile as against fourpence, and if we increased the Guarantee so far as R.R. cars were concerned to 10,000, then the cost would be only 1.3332 pence per mile, as against fourpence for the Rapson. In view of these figures, the Writer feels justified in suggesting that our proposal merits the careful consideration of the R.R. Company, and he would, therefore, esteem it a favour if you will let him know what is the best method of approaching them on the subject. Thanking you in anticipation, and with kind regards, I remain, Yours sincerely, (Sd) John Cooper. | ||
