Dear Sirs,

re Servo Linings - F.F. 1 material

With further reference to your letter of the 13th inst., and our reply of the 15th inst., we have passed on your comments to our suppliers who, however, advise us that they do not agree with the comments contained in your letter mentioned above.

We are again advised that from repeated tests made on special F.F.1 material that the friction characteristics are as follows:

100° C. - .35
200° C. - .37
300° C. - .36

There is a slight tendency to rise between 200° C. and 300° C. and at 300° C. shows a slight tendency to fall.

We are further advised that when woven materials leave the Factory same are not cured to the final degree and that some volatiles are left in the material which rather upsets the first hour's run because during that process these volatiles are driven off and the curing process is completed.

The above will serve to confirm information given to you during our 'phone conversation of this after-noon when it was also understood that you were agreeable to carry out further tests on the sample rings with a view to ascertaining whether any improvement is obtained.

We are naturally very concerned in connection with the comments contained in your letter referred to, and shall look forward to receipt of your further news with interest after you have had an opportunity of carrying out
