COPY MARSTON EXCELSIOR LIMITED. 8th March 1956. Our Ref. ER/RB.{R. Bowen} Your Ref. Les/JTW/HL. 2/DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} Messrs Rolls-Royce Limited., CREWE. For the attention of Mr.H.Lowe. Dear Sirs, Silver Cloud Vane Assembly - UE.1339 Many thanks for your letter of the 6th March together with marked up prints of UE.1332/4 showing the cut-out removed from the trailing edge of both these part numbers and UE.1333/5. We have 63 sets of Vanes going through at the moment. 17 sets already have the cut-out in, and therefore, will have to be completed. By a coincidence, this completes order C.50331/FD.{Frank Dodd - Bodies}4. The remaining 46 sets are held up pending clearance from you as to future procedure. Your marked drawing calls for a straight edge on both top and side of the vane. We cannot provide this unless a new tool, costing £25, is manufactured. We can, however, by using existing tools, provide that the trailing edge at the top of the vane is the same shape as the trailing edge at the bottom of the vane. This would, as you suggest, eliminate a cutting operation and would reduce the cost of the vanes by 1½d.each. It is important that we should hear from you, as to whether these proposals are acceptable, by return so that our programmed requirements to you are not held up. Yours faithfully, for MARSTON EXCELSIOR LIMITED. /Signed/ E.Roberts. SALES DEPARTMENT. | ||
