TCS/DR April 6/33. H.A.Robotham Esq., Messrs. Rolls-Royce Ltd., DERBY. Dear Mr. Robotham, I thank you for your letter of the 4th inst. regarding failure of the new pressure pump, but on reconsidering the matter I trust you will alter your views regarding its reputation. There is no doubt that in both instances it is due to the fibre rollers breaking. I am enclosing one of the old type and one of the new as now being fitted in the pump, and if you will pinch these in a pair of pliers you will find the red one will crack whereas it is impossible to crack the white. I think you will agree this should put the matter right. As regards the pump which has not yet failed, this is double contact and is really designed for heavy duty commercial work. At the same time I do not think this is the reason of its not failing. I am today sending on to Mr. G.W.Hancock two more pumps with the new type rollers. Regarding the mark on the spindle, I think you will find this is not due to the spindle touching but to a mark made by our assembly jig. I am ENGINEERING & ALLIED EMPLOYERS NATIONAL FEDERATION | ||
