x4050. DUNLOP RUBBER CO.,LTD. TELEGRAPHIC ADDRESS: DUNLOPS, PHONE, BIRMINGHAM TELEPHONE: BIRMINGHAM CENTRAL 4108 P. B. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} 25 LINES EXTENSION No. 339. YOUR REF: OUR REF: LEM/NGH.1. FORT DUNLOP ERDINGTON BIRMINGHAM 8. 2. 30. W.A.Robotham Esq., Experimental Dept., Messrs. Rolls-Royce Ltd., D E R B Y. Dear Sir, I thank you for your letter of the 5th inst. with reference to rubber bushes made to drawing F.55668. We are still not quite clear as to whether any of the metal parts comprising the housing of these bushes will interfere with the free movement of the rubber under compression, but in selecting the compound for the trial order of 24 of these bushes, we have carried out tests in which the rubber has been unrestricted when under compression. As it seems probable that your conditions of testing will not be exactly the same as those we have employed, we have asked the department responsible for the production of these bushes to supply you with a small number at the earliest possible moment, so that you may determine whether these are satisfactory or not. Yours faithfully, FOR THE DUNLOP RUBBER CO. LTD., L. C. Manchester. Compounds Division. | ||
