X4050. Expl. Dept. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rn.{Mr Robinson}1/MJ. Feb.13th.1930 The Dunlop Rubber Co. Ltd., For Dunlop, Erdington, BIRMINGHAM. Dear Sirs, For the attention of Mr. Jones. Further to our letter of the 7th. inst. Some tests that we have been making indicate that if we deflect the blocks we have ordered .250" to their working position they will take a permanent set very badly. We therefore suggest that you make the free length of the blocks 1.175" which will give them a permanent deflection of .175 at their working length of 1". We are sending you under separate cover, two blocks which we have removed from the engine feet the original length of which was 1.250" and which have been running at a working length of 1". These were not made by your Company but they are in exactly the condition that we wish to avoid. Yours faithfully, For Rolls-Royce Ltd. | ||
